It is hard to give anything to someone else when you feel that you don't have enough yourself. The first step toward a giving heart is to experience gratitude for what you have. Look around at your family and possessions. Acknowledge that God's gracious provision has blessed you with the things necessary for life and abundant gifts beyond basic need. When you experience this kind of gratitude, you don't feel needy, and you will be able to give with gladness to the Lord and to other people.
